A Water Vapor Image Feature Related to Severe Thunderstorms
نویسنده
چکیده
The 6.7)m channel water vapor (WV) images from GOES have been generally used as a tool for synoptic scale weather analysis since their availability in the early 1980's. However, WV images do have mesoscale applications as well. The availability of hourly WV images starting in late 1987 has permitted the monitoring of changes in mid and upper level moisture in the environment of convective storms. For example, increasing image brightness may be an indication of vertical motion due to an upper level trough or jet streak, resulting in enhanced potential for thunderstorm development (Rodgers and Griffith, 1989). Other mesoscale uses of WV imagery are summarized by Beckman (1987).

The Role of Environmental Humidity in the Moisture Budget of Thunderstorms
As such, the moisture budget of individual thunderstorms is of interest. Observational studies (Braham 1952; Foote and Fankhauser 1973; Fankhauser 1988; Heymsfield and Miller 1988) have great uncertainty associated with them because of the difficulties of measuring, or even estimating relatively accurately, both the input of water vapor and the output rainfall of a storm. Numerical modeling (We...

We explored the role of the water vapor content below the freezing level in the response of idealized supercell storm electrical processes to increased concentrations of cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). Using the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with parameterizations electrification and discharging, we performed 30 simulations by varying both the CCN concentration and water vapor...

[1] Water vapor in the lower stratosphere may play significant roles in the atmospheric radiative budget and atmospheric chemistry; hence it is important to understand its transport process. The possibility of water vapor transport from the troposphere to the stratosphere by deep convection is investigated using three-dimensional, nonhydrostatic, quasi-compressible simulations of a Midwest seve...

Thunderstorms are one of the most important, abundant and severe atmospheric hazards. In addition to destroying a large amount of agricultural products and construction projects, cause many human casualties are annually in different parts of the world (Iran Pour and et al, 2015). This phenomenon is associated with severe storms, showery precipitation, hail (Puranik and Karekar, 2004), and thund...
متن کاملModifying functionalized-carbon-nanotube capacity to enhance water-vapor adsorption capacity from nitrogen gas
The primary objective of this paper is to enhance the water-vapor-adsorption capacity of multiwall-carbon-nanotube (MWCNT) from nitrogen gas by grafting sulfonic acid groups and doping palladium nanoparticles into the adsorbent. MWCNT has been selected to be modified because of having homogeneous adsorption energy compared to silica gel. As a result, it is capable of creating isotherm having sh...
